Youth Affairs, Sports, Gender, and Social Development CECM Elias Murega has held a meeting with officials from Equity Bank. Their engagement focused on establishing a collaborative framework to support Meru Youth Service (MYS) and the entire youth population across the county.
The Meru Youth Service, which operates under four fundamental pillars; Education, Paramilitary, Enterprise, and Training, has played a vital role in providing young people with practical skills and discipline. Today’s meeting focused on exploring strategies to enhance these pillars by integrating them with Equity Bank’s comprehensive youth development programs to create more opportunities.
Key areas discussed included co-business initiatives to promote enrollment in vocational and skills-based training, employment linkages to facilitate job placements, and business development support for young entrepreneurs.
The talks also emphasized integrating MYS trainees into Equity Bank’s skills programs, providing startup capital post-training, and connecting graduates with potential investors. Further discussions focused on enhancing access to loans and ensuring efficient utilization of Youth and Uwezo funds.
In attendance were Education, Science, Culture, and Arts CECM Dr. Esther Rukunga, Meru Youth Service CEO CPA Edwin Mutuma, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports Martin Gitonga, Grace Kariuki from Equity Group Foundation, Monicah Mumbi from Equity Bank Central Region, and Glory Wairimu from Equity Bank Trade Finance.
