In preparation for the upcoming Meru Youth Service (MYS) intake, a team of officials from MYS led by CEO Edwin Murangiri, visited Murang’a county for a benchmarking exercise. The goal of the visit was to learn from Murang’a’s MYS program and identify ways to enhance and strengthen Meru’s existing initiative.
CEO Murangiri gathered valuable insights aimed at making the recruitment process more transparent and inclusive, ensuring no applicant feels sidelined. He also explored cost effective approaches that would allow the program to accommodate a larger number of recruits in line with the program’s objective of maximizing the number of beneficiaries.
The delegation further adopted ideas for a training model that minimizes disruption to daily routines of recruits and supports the participation of persons living with disabilities. This aligns with the vision of Meru Governor Hon. Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia who is committed to ensuring every Meru resident has access to opportunities that improve their lives.
Additionally, the governor had challenged the team to develop initiatives that would benefit not only the recruits but also their guardians. As a result, the team identified strategies that are expected to positively impact families of the participants as well.
The program is expected to commence as soon as all requirements, terms, and conditions are finalized. The team also paid a courtesy call to Murang’a County Secretary Dr. Newton Mwangi. Also present during the visit were MYS Administrator Eric Kimaita, and MYS Procurement Officer Eric Mbaya.
